Busy Day in Iowa City...

The first day of trades started with a bang, with Iowa City making four trades including swapping All-Star Charles Norton with Buffalo for fellow All-Star Dennis Acquilino. Iowa City picked up three other shortstops on the day Dennis Kobayashi, Edgard Zurbaran and Matty Orosco. While Portland picked up picture Derek Roberts and catching prospect Pedro Baez. The New York Highlanders got a shortstop prospect of their own from Iowa City with Pete Butler packing his bag for the big city.

1st Day of Action

Well budget's are still being set, but we have already seen a flurry of activity with many teams releasing some notable players already.

Buzz Caufield - The former Gold Glove winning catcher was released by Charleston today, earning the distinction of being the first player released in season 10.

Philadelphia released 7 game winner Brad Ryan. While Helena gave Louis Woodward his walking papers, despite his 34 HRs and 103 RBI's from last year.

Hugh Snyder is looking for a home again, after his release from Boston, after coming over from Toronto a season ago.

Portland released Bill Mann, who has failed to live up to his stellar minor league career.

A lot of action the first day, and I'm sure a lot of trade talk as well. Let's see who makes the first move.

More to come!

A message from the commissioner

Vincent Edward Scully (born November 29, 1927) is the legendary play-by-play voice of the Brooklyn and Los Angeles Dodgers baseball team. His 60-year tenure with the Dodgers (1950–present) is the longest of any broadcaster with a single club in professional sports history. Named California Sportscaster of the Year twenty-eight times, he received the Ford Frick Award from the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1982. This world is named in his honor, and all players are expected to play with integrity and high morals, but most of have alot of fun.
